Show Me The Way To Go Home

From the Orkney Islands to the set of JAWS & Robert Shaw

Robert Shaw never wrote his autobiography.  The colorful actor - who starred in such films as JAWSThe Sting, and A Man for All Seasons - died too young. His nephew, Christopher Shaw Myers, has written a Shaw family memoir: based on the writings, recollections and laugh-out-loud stories of Robert Shaw, Joanna Shaw, and their mother, Mrs. Shaw.

Fans of Robert Shaw will appreciate how Robert overcame the the family’s early trauma to become a successful actor and award-winning writer.  Fans of JAWS will appreciate what really happened on the set when the cameras were not rolling, including how Pulitzer Prize winning author, Thornton Wilder, helped Shaw write the famous USS Indianapolis speech, considered one of the greatest scenes in movie history.

In addition, Show Me the Way to Go Home is about the challenges faced by women and minorities. Joanna Shaw fought against Apartheid with Nelson Mandela in South Africa, raised seven children while teaching full-time in America, and waged a four-year battle in the U.S. court system for a woman’s right to equal pay.
